How Much Cash Should I Take to Alanya for a Week?
Share
Short answer: if you're all-inclusive — as most visitors to the Eftalia hotels and the Türkler–Konaklı resorts are — you need far less cash than you'd think. A rough guide for two people for a week is around £120 for a frugal trip, £200–250 for a relaxed one, and £325+ if you like eating out and shopping. Most of that doesn't even need to be cash; a UK card covers a lot of it.
Here's how to work out your own number.
Start with one question: are you all-inclusive?
This changes everything. If your hotel covers meals and drinks, your spending money is really just for extras — and you can have a lovely week on very little. If you're self-catering or on bed-and-breakfast, you'll spend more day to day on food, so scale up accordingly.
The budgets on this page assume all-inclusive, because that's how most of the Türkler, Konaklı and Avsallar resorts are set up. If that's not you, treat these as the "extras" layer and add your food costs on top.
What you'll actually spend money on
Even with everything included at the hotel, here's where the lira goes:
- Coffee, snacks and the odd drink off the resort
- Tips — for hotel staff, waiters, drivers (small amounts, but they add up over a week)
- The dolmuş (shared minibus) into Konaklı, Alanya centre or the market
- The weekly market — fruit, textiles, the inevitable souvenirs
- An off-site dinner or two, for a change from the hotel
- Excursions and activities — boat trips, Alanya castle, the bazaar
- Sun cream, water, bits from the pharmacy you forgot to pack
A realistic weekly budget (two people)
Based on current 2026 prices in the area:
| Style | What it looks like | Rough weekly total (2 people) |
|---|---|---|
| Frugal | Mostly hotel food, a few coffees out, one off-site meal, modest tips | ~£120 |
| Relaxed | Daily coffee/snack out, a couple of off-site dinners, drinks, the market | ~£200–250 |
| Spender | Eating out often, drinks, shopping, a couple of excursions | ~£325+ |
These are spending-money figures on top of an all-inclusive stay, for two people. Excursions can shift the total a lot — a boat trip or organised day out for two can add £40–80 in one go, so if you've got a few planned, budget for them separately. You can see what's on offer on our excursions page.
The pound figures here are approximate and depend on the exchange rate, which moves daily. We're adding a live converter to this page. For what individual items cost, see our full Türkler & Konaklı price guide.
How much should be cash vs card?
You don't need to carry it all as cash. A sensible split for most visitors:
- Cash (lira): enough for tips, the dolmuş, the market, small kiosks and street food — the things where cards aren't practical. For a week, a few thousand lira in hand is plenty for most couples; top up at an ATM if you run low.
- Card: restaurants, supermarkets, larger shops and most excursions take cards, and many take contactless. A travel-friendly card (Monzo, Revolut, Wise) keeps fees low.
Don't bring a week's worth of cash from the UK in one lump. Exchange or withdraw a moderate amount when you arrive and top up as you go — it's safer and you'll get a better rate locally than at the UK end or the airport. See where to exchange money in Konaklı & Türkler and ATMs near Eftalia and Konaklı.
Don't over-exchange
The most common money mistake we see is visitors changing too much cash up front, then trying to spend the last of it at the airport on the way home. Take a sensible starting amount, lean on your card for bigger payments, and withdraw more only if you need it. Leftover lira is harder to change back at a decent rate. Frequently asked questions
How much cash do I need for a week in Alanya?
If you're all-inclusive, far less than you'd think — roughly £120 for a frugal week for two, £200–250 for a relaxed one, and £325+ if you eat out and shop a lot. Much of it can go on a card.
Should I bring cash from the UK or get lira there?
Get most of your lira locally. Exchange or withdraw a moderate amount on arrival and top up as you go — local rates beat the UK end and the airport. Don't over-exchange.
Do I need cash if I'm all-inclusive at Eftalia?
Some, yes — for tips, the dolmuş, the market and street food. But your big costs are covered by the hotel, so your cash is really just for extras.
Can I use my card for most things in Alanya?
Yes. Restaurants, supermarkets, larger shops and most excursions take cards, many with contactless. Keep cash for tips, transport and small kiosks.
